Palm Sunday, Holy Week & Easter Schedule 2021

HOLY WEEK / EASTER TRIDUUM SCHEDULE 2021

Friends, we hope to regather for in-person worship sometime in April or May.  This year, our Palm Sunday, Holy Week & Easter liturgies will be held online on Facebook Live or stpetersdartmouth.org/watch

The word “triduum” means “three days.” These are the three most sacred days on our liturgical calendar because they tell the story of salvation.

The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one big day unfolding for us the unity of Christ’s Paschal Mystery.

The celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season. Lent ends with the beginning of our Maundy Thursday liturgy. The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:

The Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion and the Liturgy of the Resurrection of the Lord on Easter Sunday morning.
